Strawberry Daiquiri Recipe

A Strawberry Daiquiri contains Strawberries, Lime Juice, and White Rum blended with ice and served in a sugar rimmed glass garnished with a lime wedge.

A Strawberry Daiquiri is an refreshingly sweet and tart concoction that tantalizes the taste buds with its fruity flavor. The sweet and sour combination of rum, lime and strawberry blend together for a delicious drink that is perfect for sipping during the hot summer months. A good strawberry daiquiri will have just the right balance between the sweetness of the strawberries and the tartness of the lime juice, making it a perfectly balanced and enjoyable beverage.

You can use a pre-made mix from the supermarket to make your Strawberry Daiquiri or you can use the recipe below which uses frozen berries. I much prefer using frozen strawberries and real lime juice as pre-made mixtures tend to taste artificial. On the other hand, if you are working a busy bar that doesn’t specialize in Strawberry Daiquiris, pre-made Daiquiri mixes are a blessing as fresh or frozen strawberries may not even be available in your building.

The recipe below will comfortably fill up a 6 ounce cocktail glass, with a bit of extra Daiquiri left in the blender. If you are making a bunch of Daiquiris to enjoy poolside, multiply the ingredients accordingly. You can eyeball most of your ingredients accordingly, except the rum. You want to measure the rum to keep a tally on how much alcohol you are drinking, plus Strawberry Daiquiris that contain too much rum are gross.

What Type of Rum Should I Use in My Strawberry Daiquiri?

Use White Rum, not dark or spiced rum. Basic Bacardi Rum is fine, as is clear Captain Morgan or Havana Club Rum. You can always go with a higher quality Rum if you feel you need it.

Should I use pre-made Strawberry Daiquiri mix?

Strawberry Daiquiri mix is convenient, and wonderful for those occasions when you want to take it easy. So I say, go ahead, use the mix. I won’t judge you. The mix will be your strawberry, lime flavouring and sugar combined. Daiquiri xixes often don’t contain alcohol, so you’ll have to add the rum (plus ice) separately.

Do I Need a Blender to make a Strawberry Daiquiri?

Absolutely, a classic Strawberry Daiquiri calls for all the ingredients to be shaken in ice. You can go this route, and it will taste fine, provided you shake that cocktail shaker like the proverbial polaroid. You want to shake the hell out of the shaker to water things down or else the rum will taste too strong and the drink will taste too tart and sweet.

Blended Strawberry Daiquiris are what are currently in style, and they are much more fun as they are a Slushi for adults.

When to Drink Strawberry Daiquiri?

Strawberry Daiquiris are a fun drink to enjoy at a bridal shower, girl’s night, pool party, at the lake, or at a resort. Usually, it’s young girls who drink Strawberry Daiquiris as it masks the taste of alcohol, plus they can handle the sweetness.

At a restaurant, you might enjoy a Strawberry Daiquiri before your meal as this fun drink makes everything feel more fun. A lot of chain restaurants featuring fun food do a good job at making Strawberry Daiquiris look pretty and taste sweet. More than likely, they are using a premade mix as it cuts down on material costs. If a Strawberry Daiquiri is not on the menu at a restaurant or bar, they can probably make you one upon request.

Should I Have a Rum Toddy when I Have a Cold?

No, you should never have Rum if you have a cold and want to feel better. Rum will just make your cold symptoms feel worse as the alcohol will dehydrate you even further. In the past Hot Toddies were used to relieve a cold, but this was also in an era where we used leaches to heal diseases and spiked our Cola with cocaine.
