Hello Barkeep is a Cocktail Recipe blog by Maurice K. Beaver. For decades I worked in the hospitality industry in France, Scotland, NY, Las Vegas, British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec before settling in Nova Scotia, where I now live with my two cats Fino & Oloroso.
For over 30 years I have worked at dozens of resorts, restaurants and clubs across the globe where I’ve made millions of cocktails for regulars, wedding guests, friends, and the most interesting random people to ever walk into the bar. The most important thing I’ve learned is to make them a drink that tastes good, and to get it to them fast.
I started this cocktail guide as I found too many drink recipes on the internet way too pretentious. I get why people and bartenders are passionate about drinks, however, I don’t feel this always translates to the real world where you might not have all the tools, liquor or glassware on hand. Plus, not every bar or home bar can afford to have every type of liquor or ingredient, so in a lot of my recipes I’ll propose alternative ingredients.
