Blue Lagoon Drink – Recipe

The Blue Lagoon cocktail is a refreshing and tropical drink made with Vodka, Blue Curaçao, and Lemonade. It is often served in a pretty glass with ice and garnished with a slice of lemon.

The bright blue color of the Blue Lagoon cocktail makes it a popular choice for beach parties and other summer events, and its sweet and citrus flavour makes it a crowd pleaser with young adults (particularly females). Whether you’re sipping on one at a poolside bar or mixing up a batch at home, the Blue Lagoon is a tasty and fun drink to make.

What does a Blue Lagoon Taste Like?

A Blue Lagoon tastes sweet and citrusy thanks to the lemonade and the orange flavoured Blue Curacao. The lemonade adds lemon flavour, while the Blue Curacao adds a sweet orange flavour. If you add a splash of lime to the drink, you’ll add a touch of tartness.

I don’t have Blue Curacao, can I use something else?

Blue Curacao gives the Blue Lagoon its cool blue colour and there is no real substitute for it. Even though Blue Curacao tastes like orange, Triple Sec or Cointreau won’t work for this drink as they are clear or orange coloured.

Blue Curacao isn’t expensive, and you can use it to make lots of other blue alcoholic drinks like a Porn Star Shooter, a Blue Hawaii or a Blue Margarita. It’s worth having for your commercial or home bar for its versatility. If you are in a pinch, I suppose you could use some Blue Gatorade, Triple Sec, Vodka and Lemonade to make your Blue Lagoon.

Can I use Freshly Squeezed Lemon for a Blue Lagoon Drink?

You could, however, you’ll want to sweeten up your lemon juice with sugar or simple syrup. Otherwise, the drink would taste too tart and sour.
