To make a Black Russian cocktail, you’ll need two ingredients – Vodka and Kahlúa. To make a Black Russian, fill an old-fashioned glass with ice cubes and pour in 2 ounces of Vodka. Next, add one ounce of Kahlúa. Stir vigorously for a couple of seconds, but not violently to spill anything.
The Black Russian is a fairly boozy and dry drink, thus, if you want a beverage that is sweeter, add more Kahlúa and less Vodka. If you find it too dry, consider a White Russian, which adds Cream to soften the sharp Vodka edges and bitter Kahlúa aftertaste.

Is it necessary to add Cherries to a Black Russian?
Absolutely, and you must always add 3 Cherries. Adding any more or less cherries will destroy the flavour of a Black Russian. I am just kidding of course. You do not need to add any Cherries to your Black Russian. If you are making a Black Russian for a customer or a friend, add the darn cherries.
Black Russians are boozy, strong and dry. By adding the Cherries, you’re offering a rewarding escape, as the Cherries bring a little bit of life and sweetness back to your taste buds. Plus, the cherries absorb the flavour of the Black Russian, and dang is it ever tasty!
